NetBeans RCP

Mike Milinkovich is happy someone is praising Eclipse RCP, so he doesn’t have to.

I have to say that I agree with all 5 reasons:

1) Web is not for everything

2) .Net Smart Client Replacement

3) Tools and Support

4) Its Java

5) Above all, its Free.

…only my conclusion differs as they all apply to the NetBeans Platform also.

With the upcoming NetBeans 5.0 release, building modules on top of the NetBeans Platform to create standalone RCP applications or simply to extend the NetBeans IDE is getting real easy. Check out this tutorial (work-in-progress, Geertjan is asking for feedback).
